The following statement is not only terrible advice but more importantly, it is an outright lie. "If you are seeking your soulmate, consider fasting in honor of the Hindu god Shiva."
That statement is a headline and article recently posted on the Yahoo! home page. (If you visit the page I suggest sending an email of dissatisfaction to the editors and a link to the Gospel like I did)
Isn't it interesting how media outlets are eager to get kids and adult readers learning about pagan gods yet choose to ignore the real source of all life and ultimately the source for salvation-- God Himself through Jesus Christ?
It should be no surprise to true Christians that the God of the Bible is hidden and rejected as much as possible while man-made gods are welcomed and promoted most anyplace one finds the media present. More sobering to me though is that these false messages are strategically placed for the most vulnerable to see and are disguised in such a way even many Bible believing adults will not be able to sense the seriousness of the dangers.
Kids cruise the internet looking for love and people constantly browse news pages all the time. What better way than to mix goddess worship with human love (online personals) all under a recognizable name such as Yahoo! to promote it. People are looking for love everyday and to tell people they can find it through a god/goddess is nothing more than lying.
Those who do this, whether they believe it themselves or just promote it, I think are simply ignorant as spoken of in the Bible. They are held captive by the Devil all the while being ignorant. (see 2 Timothy 2:25-26, Ephesians 4:18 and 2 Peter 3:5)
For this reason and this reason alone I write these things.
Verse(s) for today's post: Colossians 1:15-16
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
