Valentine's Day is today and it is especially exciting when you can say I love you to your darling with a flower or two. However, it's not as exciting when you
a.) don't have much money, if any
b.) don't have a person to buy flowers for right now or...
c.) have recently been fighting. Yes, I said it, fighting and on of all days.... Valentine's Day! I am talking about my life of course but no need to panic...yet. I'd rather refer to it as a stand-off or was a stand-off cause I'm pretty confident things will be better by the end of the day. But I'm guessing you want a juicy story about what happened and what is about to happen or might happen next, right? Well, sadly I'm going to have to disappoint because I won't write a story for just anyone to read. I know about two or three people visit here on occasion but that number could grow especially if I tell a story about fighting in a relationship on Valentine's Day. These stories get twisted anyways and besides I'm sure it was mostly my fault anyways. My Sweetheart knows that point best.
So to sum up..... it's Valentine's Day and it's a reminder to me as a guy, flowers are good all the time and so is "I love you" and a bunch of other stuff.
I wanted to write an additional quick note to those who are single (myself included, technically) but I couldn't think of anything to write about so I won't. Ok, then.
To those who are married, what I want to say should be meant for you but since I'm not married I don't have any idea what I'm talking about so I won't try to think of something clever to say except... "yeah" and "woo hoo for you."
One final note....Woo hoo to Mr. Valentine...he got a day named after himself. Have you ever wondered what kind of flowers he got for his wife Mrs. Valentine and on his birthday? Me either.

Flowers... Oh yes. You are right. Any time they are good to give to a woman :) A fellow teacher today said that she once made a comment to her husband. The comment was " ...don't buy me flowers for my casket, buy them for me while I am alive please."
Guys - women, at any age, love flowers. I think it is a given. I'll have to look again, but after Adam was created in the wilderness, Eve was created in the garden. I assume then that, that may be one of the main reasons why women adore flowers. Its the beauty of a woman, that desires things around her to be beautiful. Flowers... good anytime.
Money issues...we all try to do what we can at the moment. The expectation for me isn't so much the amount spent, but more the thought behind it all.
Well, that kinda brings up an important yet crucial word. Expectation.
It's good to have high expectations of other people. Or is it? My students in the math classroom: Yes, academically, high expectations are needed to help students grow and challenge themselves. Low Expectations of students in the classroom are meet way too easily. We all need to "reach for the stars," have goals, people who believe in us, who challenge us, who love us and don't want to see us fail.
However, a different type of expectation, which occurs often in all types of relationships isn't good. Wow, this is the stuff used to control other people. Most of these people, are truely loved by the ones who place these expectations on them. Yet we as humans will put heavy burdens on the ones we love for the sake of getting them to do what we want them to do.
This problem is at the heart of many family disagreements and disagreements with significant others.
Bottom line, its about our motivaton really...whether it is a proper and good expecation or a controlling and damaging expectation.
And who knows the deep secrets of the heart of man?
Honey...I'm sorry :) Please forgive me...May the Lord search me, and see if there is any offensive way in me...and lead me in the WAY everlasting! amen
p.s. I should just get my own blogging started... :) But thank you for letting me put my more than comments on here :) luvU re
