What About Peace?

You've seen the pictures. You may have read the story of Mrs. Sheehan in Crawford Texas or heard about her distain for President Bush and our country. She is grieving and it appears she has become increasingly angry and bitter at goodness. Understandingly we sympathize with her and her loss of her son in Iraq. Like all those who fight to defend us, he is the hero of this tragedy. It's because of him and those who fight in wars for our country that we even exist in this land; a land so many desire to live in.
I want to address something else which might not be as obvious. At first glance, Cindy Sheehan is wearing a shirt with a "peace" sign. As her story gains attention, she is being praised for her hatred of George W. Bush. She is fast gaining recognition for her so-called cause against the Iraq war and our fight against terrorists. Right now, many are jumping on her bandwagon of "peace". What isn't apparent on the surface is the kind of "peace" she seems to be pouring her heart into. I offer only a brief thought. The peace sign is a symbol of a cross --a cross that has been broken and turned upside down. I believe those who use the peace symbol are in reality, making a mockery of God and what Christ did on the cross. The very One who provides peace and IS peace that passes all understanding, is again ridiculed, despised and rejected for this other kind of "peace". This new "peace" is a false hope which can only come from the prince of this world as he masks himself as an angel of light in these troubled times.
"Satan, the god of this evil world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe, so they are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News that is shining upon them. They don't understand the message we preach about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God." 2 Corinthians 4:4 nlt

A Simple Thought on Trusting God

Sometimes things happen in a person's life which lead one to learn how to trust God more. I believe God takes a person through life to use whatever means may be necessary to teach a person to trust Him and Him alone. It's been a struggle for me at certain times to know about completely trusting the Lord. As Christians, I'm sure we all struggle with it...a time when we're down and the Devil will attack of course. I think God is teaching me about this again. My girlfriend and I desire wholeheartedly to seek His guidance alone in our relationship and we agree this is the only way. My girlfriend has immense depth for spiritual things and an incredible ability for reminding me in whom we are trusting at just the right time. Yes, she is amazing. God has blessed her with this gift of course, and so I thank Him for bringing her into my life and allowing us to fall in love. And so I think whether it's a person who is brought into your life or an event that takes place, remember that God may be speaking through that person or a particular situation and using that to help you learn something else or to simply trust Him wholeheartedly.

Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day. Psalm 25:4-5
