Baby Makes Grand Entrance

I got the news of my nephew Eric being born late last night and it is quite exciting. I wasn't present at the delivery but I wanted to imagine the scene so I decided to dream about it. When baby E was making his entrance it was grand indeed. I imagine it has got to be a happy moment for the parents and a proud one for daddy and mommy both. I know baby E comes from smart parents but what happened next was ridiculous.
First, I don't think anyone truly realized how happy baby E would be to be released from his mother's womb. Surely his parents had no idea of his glee nor could fully prepare for it. He literally leaped out and thankfully was caught by a doctor in mid-air. The funniest thing was...he began speaking right away! He wanted to know where the nearest computer was so he could start a blog. Simply amazing. Boy is little E gonna have fun when he learns to type! Imagine his excitement when he learns how his dad just happens to be into computers and even uses one for work! And he finds out his mom loves to blog and write.....Wow. He couldn't have been born at a better time because our whole society revolves around the use of computers and email. Imagine if baby E had been born before the computer was invented? Maybe he wouldn't like computers as much then.
Ya, know? The mind can be a funny thing.

Verse for todays post: John 16:21 NIV
A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.

Congratulations to David and Becky Zwicker. And go Eric!

Why the Dodgers Lost the NLDS

Some of you are aware of the Los Angeles Dodgers loss to the New York Mets in the National League Division Series today. Some readers will not be aware of the loss nor do you really much care about baseball or the Dodgers for that matter but nevertheless, I would like to take this time and space to explain why I believe the Dodgers lost the series.

First, two obvious points to be made for why they lost was because of inconsistent hitting and pitching by the team. When one player hits a single or a double and the next two players do not, it makes it difficult to win a game. My second obvious point concerns the pitchers who are good one moment and not the next. It's difficult to win without solid, consistent pitching from the entire pitching roster, which the Dodgers lacked this year.

My final point is not so obvious but in my view is maybe the most important reason the Dodgers faltered this year. Two names: Paul Lo Duca and Shawn Green. Those two guys hit the Dodgers hard tonight. Those two players seemed to play as if they knew quite a bit about the home team---for which they beat. Paul Lo Duca and Shawn Green seemed to carry a sense of revenge with them at the plate. These two guys said how sweet it would be to beat Dodgers, and before the opposing hometown crowd at Dodger Stadium. Oh wait, I almost forgot to mention that these players not long ago were once Dodger hero's and wore Dodger blue. That's right, they played for the team they now hoped to beat. They got traded away against their wishes and now hoped to make the Dodgers pay. I really can't blame them.

How ironic it was the Dodgers got to see former star players of their own team come back to beat them in the playoffs....or was it? I'm not totally sure, but it IS the most important reason why I believe they lost the series and a little more than frustrating for Dodger fans everywhere.
A final word: Go Dodgers...next year.... when they get back Shawn Green and Paul Lo Duca

Ridicule means Let Us Unite in Defense of the Biblical Gospel

The goal of democrats, liberals and people who hate God (the God of the Bible) is to humiliate and slander true Christians and any who choose a moral high-road and use the Bible as their standard of living. We see and hear this ridicule daily on public and cable TV, newspapers and radio. I would like to see more outrage from Christians who want to defend what is right from God's standard. I'm not advocating we become forcefully aggressive or make meaningless silly statements through public sit-ins or protests. As Christians, we are certainly not commanded to be of a violent nature (because we have a new nature in Christ) or are we to act in hostility toward people as some religions teach and practice. What I do mean however, is to work to get good solid material in defense of the Gospel and in defense of the biblical account of Creation (as recorded throughout scripture) into the hands of anyone and everyone they know and do not know. We can get materials such as seen in Dr. Kent Hovind's debates and in other meaty ministries into the hands of those who don't believe it or haven't heard it.

When Christians stand up together and united for the message of the Gospel in a concise, non- watered down manner I can't help but think about what an example we will be. A separation of the wheat and tares will take place. A separation of the true and false should take place. True Christians know if they are true Christians and will not want to pervert the Gospel but rather act in defense of the truth, not leaving anything out. Their desire will be for the truth of Christ to be known to all man-kind without promoting self and the emphasis to be placed on self but rather on what the Lord has done on the cross. The world en masse will clearly hate the messengers and the part of the message of sin, repentance, hell and God's holiness but at least the lost couldn't honestly say they didn't hear it or ever have the chance to see their sin, and learn why they desperately need a Savior and Christ is the only way to Heaven.

Evolutionists and so-called atheist's love to ridicule Christians and the belief that God created human beings whenever they get the opportunity. However, one rarely sees these prominent figures publicly debate a Christian who is knowledgeable in the Scriptures. I find this intriguing because you would think they would want to "expose" such a silly belief (as what the Bible teaches) publically on radio and TV, etc. Or is it perhaps not the teachings of the Bible which are silly but rather the attempt to defend a belief that removes God a fact the god of this world (Satan) does not want truly exposed! If Christ was preached more often, people just might have to trust God and get saved from the wrath to come. Satan surely does not want that.

This reminds me of a great TV channel I would love to create. It would feature many Christians who are not out for money or making a name for themselves but simply sharing Jesus---the name that is above every name. These teachers would truly want to share the truth of Christ, teach discernment and solid doctrine to help Christians grow and skeptics believe (through the Holy Spirit's work). Discernment and true biblical teaching seems to be lacking on much of TV these days including certain "Christian" programs.
I pray for motivation to do the work that matters most; to do the work of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Verse(s) for today's post: Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
